With this post, I’m concluding my contribution project to the WordPress Polyglots team.

My goal was to contribute by translating strings into Spanish for WooCommerce. During the project, I learned that a contribution isn’t just about translating text, but also about following translation guidelines, accepting feedback, and maintaining the quality of each translation.

At the beginning, I made a significant mistake: I submitted 107 translations to a WordPress Core project instead of the WooCommerce project. When I realized this, I decided to start over and redo the work in the correct project so that my contribution met the established objectives.

Furthermore, several of my translations received feedback during the review process, so I had to correct them before they were accepted. Thanks to this feedback, I was able to improve the quality of my translations, better understand the context of many strings, and familiarize myself with the Polyglots team’s recommendations.

Finally, I achieved my goal with 107 approved translations in the WooCommerce project. Having completed this process allowed me to develop a better understanding of how WordPress works as an open-source software project and the importance of collaboration within its community.

This experience taught me that making mistakes is part of learning and that perseverance is essential for successful contributions. I am satisfied with the outcome and hope to continue collaborating with the WordPress community in the future.
